Description
Say to someone, “who owns you?”
They’ll look a bit confused by the question, but they’ll usually always respond by saying something along the lines of..
“Nobody, I own myself”.
You can then respond with..
“Since you own yourself.. would you say that you own the product of your labor? Meaning, you shouldn’t be forced to involuntary work for someone, right?”
They might say something like.. “Of course not, I’m not a slave!”
You can tell them that when the “government” demands the product of their labor via taxation, it’s akin to slavery.
If they don’t relate to that, you could fall back on the obvious.. that taking someones possessions (in this case, their earnings) without their consent is theft.
Taking $100 dollars from someone, buying a bunch of things (which mainly just benefit me) and then buying them a $10 sandwich not make the initial $100 theft justifiable.
The masses seem unclear regarding what taxation actually is, and that’s why we made a collection which clearly defines it..
