What is a government? How would you describe it to someone?
Some would say it’s a group of people who claim to have a territorial monopoly on the “rightful” use of force.
These people are smart, because that’s a pretty accurate definition.
Most people, however, have never actually given it much thought. Certainly not enough to be able to elaborate on what it is.
They may say that the government “represents” them, but that definition is nullified when you consider all of the things people acting on behalf of government do that is in direct opposition to the will of the citizens. Senseless, expensive wars would be a good example.
In order to get people questioning what it actually is, we made the “government defined” collection..
